Who needs permission to throw a tear gas container ? Find out, as we look at 5 weird and ridiculous laws you must know before moving to Tacoma.
Hey guys Im Austin Robertson, today we are going to be looking at 5 of the weirdest laws put into effect in the state of Washington. Now its no shock to anyone that Washington does its own thing. Whether you view it as a good or a bad thing. Politically we have been polorizing for much of the country during the covid 19 pandemic. Some people thought our state was to strick carrying on a mast mandate that went on for what felt like forever, and some felt like it was the perfect plan. We arent here to debate those facts. We are here to look at the wildest laws put into place by washington law makers.

Alright, lets kick it off. Number 1 No Person may walk around in public with the knowledge that they have the common cold.
Well, that one might ring a little close to home these days but this 1909 law was not based on a pandemic, Washington residents wanted to protect themselves as the populations started to grow. Therefor anyone who was found guilty of having a cold an knowingly entered the public would be removed in forceful manner but not one not dangerous to the public and you would be charged with a misdemeanor.
Number 2 on our list is tear gas. What small child doesnt love to run through the streets of their home town and chuck tear gas at civilians? I mean come on. First introduced in world war 1 tear gas is an effective agent to render someone useless. When tear gas interacts with the human body it will aggressviy effect the mucous membranes, the eyes and sometimes the respiratory tract. Well, in washington if youre under eighteen you might be in for a rude awakening. Before you go out and tear gas the neighborhood, legally I should say. You will need to get permission from your parents to do so. Thats right, a weird washington law is that it is illegal for anyone under 18 to throw tear gas canisteres without first getting permission from their parents.
Fun Fact: if you have neighbor with loose morals it might be a solid idea to pick up a gas mask with charcoal filters. Apparently that’s what will stop it
Number 3 on our list is spitting on a bus. Now, I’m going to just be transparent here and tell you that I am not really sure if that means you shouldn’t spit on the physical bus or spit while you are on the bus. Either way it’s gross and you probably shouldn’t do it. Sadly, I can see I have seen a lot weirder things on buses. Especially if you go into Seattle
Number 4 of weird laws in Washington goes to the fact that it is illegal to use an xray machine to fit someone for shoes. In fact if you work at a foot locker its probably just better to not have an x ray machine in the building at all. Now, dont worry. There is a work around to this law. If an employee of the shoe store is a physician or surgeon and has direct supervision of the process then the law will allow it.
This is really one of those laws that makes me think what the hell was someone doing with an xray machine in a show store that made it necessary for this law to be made.
And the last one on our list today The harassing of Bigfoot, giant Sasquatch, or other undiscovered subspecies is a felony. If you ever happen to be in one of the many state parks, forests, or wildlife refuges and happen to find the elusive Bigfoot, kill it, and finally prove its existence, two things will happen: you will forever be known as the person who proved Bigfoot is real, but you’ll spend the first five years of your fame in jail. Part of this makes me feel like law makers were probably trying to spin this into some sort of gun law but I dont have evidence to back that up.
Well, there you have it. The 5 weird laws you need to know before you make your move to Washington. I hope you found this video entertaining. If you need assistance with you move to or in WA please reach out to me. Until next time, Im Austin Robertson
